Wow, what more can I say. The accolades Itheko received on that day bears testament to the club. Firstly we were personally thanked by someone senior at Titans, then we received the floating trophy. And once again the support was enormous throughout, at the start, during and at the end.
On the personal front, I ran my third half marathon and achieved my worst time. But the experience was tremendous. I was running with a group of debutants, led by Enus & I think his name is Billy. The bus was to complete in 2:55. Throughout the first 17 kays one’s watch could be set at our constant 8min/kay. The bus did not waiver, nor shrink but actually grew with the passengers we picked up en route. The camaraderie, not only amongst each other, but also that displayed to members of other clubs really made me proud to wear my Itheko sweater.
Running at the pace we were, each one carrying the other, and by doing so, made the experience so much more enjoyable. Coming in at the end, with most of the field having finished, was as usual made soooo special by the cheers and spurring on by fellow club members.
All of this really makes one proud to be a member of Itheko Sports Athletic Club.
I pray the Almighty guides and protects this club and may it grow from strength to strength.
Yours in sport & running & eating
