It was a fantastic feeling to be back on the long road again after my appendectomy.  The Peninsula was my first half marathon since my operation and I therefore decided to take it easy  and take each  km  in my stride.  5 minutes into the race I found myself next to two Itheko gentlemen, AHMED BANDERKAR and MOEGAMAT TOEFFA. These two guys where just awesome, they stuck with me through the entire 21,1km, slowing down when I needed to and picking up the pace when I was ready.  We finished in 2HRS 18MIN. Thanks guys, you made my comeback feel just great.  This is what makes Itheko such a special and unique club, we have all these special and unselfish people who makes Itheko what it is.

I finally have a 21km race under the belt, and it feels awesome!

This is a real achievement for me and I was so happy when I got to the finish line, even though at the last 2km’s I couldn’t make it anymore and Ebrahim Mohedeem kept saying “it’s around the corner, don’t push guys, we almost there”

The emotional part of this achievement kicked in the next day, just a year ago I could never imagine that I would be able to this, but I did!!!!  and self gratitude is amazing.

I have to thank EBRAHIM MOHEDEEN for his support  – maintaining a perfect pace and keeping me strong mentally to have achieved this.  You are a great coach who is there for the people, ( even with a bit of “French” now & then ) I can surely say you keep us going.
