Sunday’s race was the perfect way to start a beautiful day. The beautiful
scenery helped take one’s mind off the gruelling hills during the first half of the race but the whole experience was made special thanks to our new coach and mentor, Boeta Ehsan and my running partner, Gadija. Despite my numerous attempts to persuade Boeta Ehsan to go ahead at his normal fast pace, he dedicated this race to Gadija and I and stuck with us from start to finish. At the start, Boeta Ehsan was determined that we perform at our best and with his invaluable advice on the road on breathing and running techniques, both Gadija and I could only benefit and improve.
Boeta Ehsan, I know we most probably tested your patience but were truly honoured to have you run with us. Shukran.
Our vision is transforming lives and improving the health of our communities through running - it's about inspiring and supporting each other and having fun, as well as competing in races and winning medals.
We cater for everyone, and especially those of you who have never run before. Many members started as reluctant beginners who did not believe that they could run, and have now transformed their physical and mental health.
How can I join Itheko? Join us at our training base in Willow Rd, Observatory. Training is at 6pm on Monday & Wednesday evenings for beginners and on Tuesdays and Thursdays for everyone else. After a 4-8 week beginners program you'll be celebrating finishing your first 10K race!
Ready to join us? Find application forms and details about joining on the Membership page.
