Raldia Shabodien tells us how she broke the 1hr barrier:
I started the race feeling very cold and wet from the heavy rain minutes before the race. My legs felt like ice blocks and only started warming up after 2ks into the run. I then decided to up my pace and remained focused on achieving a good time for my race. The run went very well and I felt comfortable with my faster pace thus breaking sub 1hr. What contributed to my sub 1hr break was the Time Trials Coach Farouk arranged for us one evening as well as the Cross Country events I participated in. Some Runners detest Time Trials and Speed Training but it is important if you want to achieve a better time. Make use of the valuable advice we all get from Couch Farouk as it definitely helps to improve your Running technique.

What an inspiration Aunty Raldia.
I also didn’t realise that you had done a PB on the day, so belated Congratulations!

Lots of slamat to aunty Raldia for your achievement! I was also not aware it was auntie Raldia’s personal best but I must agree with Shiehaam about aunty Raldia’s humble nature as I ran passed her on my way to get my daughter at the finish line. She said well done to me (and I only did the 5Km!) and I said well done to her not realising it was a personal best. Well done!

Lovely stuff Aunty R ,Im glad to see that sticking with me up those Bishops Court hills has not taken anything away from your race pace!!!
Must be a helluva nice feeling seeing your name at the top of a results list .

Aunty Raldia, I just want to say that you are an inspiration to all the women in this club.. You always have only positive words of encouragement & motivation for all of us.. when I finished the race and long after we had snacks and just chatted, you never even mentioned that you did a personal best time! I found out when I got the race results yesterday.. Again, this is testament to your modest and humble nature.. always taking the focus away from yourself, same for Uncle Ehsan.. true role models! Well done!
